The incident happened in Bellmore, near the intersection of Bellmore Avenue and Merrick Road, shortly before 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14.
Nassau County Police said 63-year-old Charles Klimovich, of Bellmore, was involved in a car crash and refused to give officers his information to document the incident.
Klimovich reportedly became combative and attempted to flee the scene. As officers were attempting to handcuff him, he continued resisting and refused to comply with the officer’s commands, police said.
Officers resorted to using their TASER device to subdue the man and place him under arrest.
An officer sustained injuries to his elbow and both knees during the scuffle, and he was taken to a hospital.
Klimovich is charged with assault, obstructing governmental administration, and resisting arrest.
